This spot at the beginning of the hike had a spring, a little chapel, and these old carvings of saints. Stepan decided to climb the cliff to that cave visible right above the cross 1200x900 01_Carvings_in_cliff.JPG |
Manushak looks on in concern as Stepan makes his way up the cliff 900x1200 02_Manushak_worried.JPG.jpg |
We started walking from that village right above Manushak's head. Mt. Ararat is on the horizon, and highrises in Yerevan suburbs are visible on the right edge of the picture, at the top. 1200x900 03_Villages_and_fields.JPG.jpg |
I like that lonely tree at the edge of the field, right below the peak. 1200x900 04_Near_the_peak.JPG.jpg |
In the afternoon it became a little more hazy, and Ararat was hardly visible anymore 900x1200 05_Climbing_up.JPG.jpg |
The final ascent was pretty steep. 1200x900 06_More_great_views.JPG.jpg |
On the peak we met these two guys who were having a smoke in a nearby bunker. One of them did not like a flag being higher than the cross, so he climbed that little structure and cut the flag off. 1200x900 07_Flag_and_cross.JPG.jpg |
It was pretty cold at this altitude: 2600m 1200x900 08_Julius_on_peak_of_Mt._Hatis.JPG.jpg |
