The peninsula used to be an island, before the Soviets decided to dramatically lower the lake's level for industrial purposes. Armenians have done a pretty good job of undoing a lot of the environmental damage though, and the level of the lake is rising again, though it will likely never reach its original size. 1200x900 002_Church_on_peninsula.JPG.jpg |

This is the place where we stayed the night. A typical, old Soviet resort. The pool looked nice from a distance, but the only things that swam in it were a couple of frogs and some dead mice.
