Around Yerevan

These pictures were taken on daytrips near Yerevan. They included a big BBQ/picnic, a visit to the ruins of a VII century cathedral, as well as to a museum built on the site of a famous Armenian victory over the Turks. Also, pictures of a hike near Yerevan.

I was not allowed to take pictures in the museum, but I could not resist snapping a quick photo of this strange little pair from the bronze age.

Zvartnots cathedral was built in the seventh century AD.  It was a fantastic structure, circular, three levels high.  Unfortunately, it was destroyed in the 10th century, probably by an earthquake.
